About Tabulay (100 words)
Tabulay is the CSV workbench for Mac, made by Alain Deléglise in Lille, France. It opens files of millions of rows in seconds by indexing them, not loading them, edits files up to 2 GB, and checks the type of every value. Filter chips answer everyday questions for free; Tabulay Pro, a one-time purchase, adds a full SQL engine, column insights and cleanup tools with previews. Every change is an undoable step, and saving copies untouched rows byte for byte while the columns stay the same. The app cannot connect to the internet and collects no data. Free to download.

Story angles
- The app that can’t go online. Tabulay has no network permission at all. macOS enforces it, which makes “your data stays on your Mac” a fact rather than a promise.
- Past the spreadsheet’s last row. An Excel worksheet stops at 1,048,576 rows. Bank exports, order histories and research data don’t.
- The end of the silent change. Spreadsheets reformat values by default; in 2020 geneticists renamed 27 genes partly because of it. Tabulay never changes a value you didn’t ask to change.
- No subscription, on purpose. A local tool with no server to run, sold once. Your files are never held hostage.
- Made in Lille. An independent Mac app, designed and built in France to the standards of Apple’s own apps.
